HALITOSIS
Halitosis can be defined as the exhalation of unpleasant odors from the mouth cavity through breathing (bad breath). According to the Halitosis Brazilian Association (ABHA), around 30% of the population suffers with bad breath, and the sufferer quickly adapts his/her sense of smell, once the odor is constant, preventing him/her to notice the problem.
Usually, this pathology is caused by the decomposition of organic material in the oral cavity, which can be avoided and treated in many ways, once the prevention can spare the individual of embarrassing situations and/or improve his/her social interaction.
According to a study published by the Stomatology International Magazine, the Hiperboloide has been an essential tool in the halitosis treatment and prevention, once its use increases the saliva production, which is the main protection of the buccal tissues, acting as an anti-microbial, in addition to keeping their integrity, performing the buccal lubrication and inhibiting the bacterial proliferation.
To achieve the salivary increase with the Hiperboloide it is necessary to perform daily mastication of only 3 minutes (minimum), after meals. In the halitosis case, it should be 3 more minutes, 3 times a day. Using tooth brush and dental floss should be part of the buccal hygiene care throughout the lifetime.
Exercises for Halitosis with Hiperboloide
MASTICATORY EXERCISES

• Afternoon – once, during 10 min. – with 2 hours interval.
• Night – once, during 5 min. – before bedtime.
The patient can stay much longer with the Hiperboloide in the mouth, as long as it is not chewed so the muscle fatigue is avoided.
